The movie version, not Elton John's. Seen from both Mulder and Scully's point of view. He is afraid to open up to her, to tell her about his demons for fear of her turning away. But she can tell that he is hiding his feelings behind a facade, wanting him to be himself, to trust her with his emotions. The love between them is palpable, though they may not realize it, they don't have to search for love, it's right in front of them.
