Being assigned to the X-Files, Scully had no choice to listen to Mulder, to hear his theories and go on his cases. At first it was ludicrous but as time went on and she thought more about it and witnessed more, she finally started to accept it. He treats her well, opening doors and other such gentlemanly acts which she usually hates because she feels that it is in deference to her sex. But from him it isn’t, because he still treats her like an equal. His passion for the truth is so strong that she is caught up in it, he is so much more than she would have thought when they first started out. He listens to her when she wants to talk, he is her best friend and more. She’s loved him for so long, she doesn’t know why it has taken so long to admit it to herself. This self truth makes her feel good, better than she has felt in a long time. She’s aware now that she loves her best friend.
