True Colors True Colors

Cyndi Lauper

You with the sad eyes
Don't be discouraged
Oh I realize
It's hard to take courage
In a world full of people
You can lose sight of it all
And the darkness inside you
Can make you feel so small

But I see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And thats why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful,
Like a rainbow

Show me a smile then,
Don't be unhappy, can't remember
When I last saw you laughing
If this world makes you crazy
And you've taken all you can bear
You call me up
Because you know I'll be there

And I see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And thats why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful,
Like a rainbow

After all the hardships that he’s gone through, it is understandable that it is hard for Mulder to take courage in anything, that the darkness within grows. Those sad, beautiful hazel eyes (they give me the shivers). But Scully sees past his dark exterior, past the serious side, the sarcastic demeanor, the walls of protection. She loves him despite all his fault, loves him more for all that he has been through and that he shouldn’t be afraid to show his emotions. She is hard pressed to remember the last time he actually laughed, not chuckled or smirked. He’s had to suffer so much but he has to know that she will always be there for him to lean on. She loves his soul, his true colors.
