Storylines and acting improved along with some good secondary characters. I liked it mostly due to the interaction
between our two favorite FBI agents.

Summary: Mulder's contact in the Senate, Senator Matheson, brings him information regarding alien contact. Despite the closure of the X-Files, Mulder travels to Arecibo, Puerto Rico, to get evidence of the contact at the radio tower that received the message. However, he has to find the evidence before the clean up team does.
Rating:
I feel really bad for Scully when she says hi to Mulder in the hall and he ignores her. But hey, he's being valiant, protecting her from what he feels is his 'bad influence'. She is so caring, worrying about him and meeting with him to make sure he's okay. I understand why they reassigned Scully to Quantico, but I don't know why they stuck Mulder on wiretap. He'd be much more useful in Violent Crimes and the BSU would be punishment anyway. I like this episode because it shows us the in-depth nightmare of the night Samantha was taken. Mulder was a cute kid, and the boy they got to play young Fox kinda looks like Mulder. He did well, not panicking and going for his dad's gun. Of course, this is contrary to the being in his bed and couldn't move story we heard in the pilot episode. Oh well, I like this version better. I love the Brandenburg Concertos, two AND three. Mulder looks awfully tired during the entire episode and I just know that he's not sleeping or eating well. Ah, the angst. Obvioiusly Mulder did not take Spanish in high school, because he says "No habla espanol" and "Hablo inglese?", which any beginning Spanish student knows means 'He/She/You do not speak spanish' and 'I speak Spanish?', plus the fact that it's ingles, not inglese. I'm not too worried about it though because Mulder seems like a French or Latin kinda guy. Rewatching the episode now, I almost expect the Spanish guy to start screaming "Chupacabra!" after he draws the picture on the wall. Scully's sneaky to use the fish food trick. What right does the FBI have to tap Mulder's phone? Do they suspect he's doing something illegal? I would expect the Consortium to do it, but discreetly, not the by flagrant methods of the Bureau. It's wonderful how Mulder uses the tape recorder like he's talking directly to Scully - he misses her. Awwwww. Scully shows her capacity to believe in her tremulous question, "Is that them?" Mulder's a pretty good driver. I'm thrilled Skinner stands up to Cancerman. Notice we always see shoulder and up shots of Scully...
Favorite Quotes:
1. "Do you like Bach, Fox?"
"I live for Bach." - Senator Matheson and Mulder.
2. "Mulder, you hounded me to have lunch with you today and then you don't show. You're a pig." - Woman's voice on Mulder's answering machine.
3. "Before I could only trust myself, now I can only trust you. And They've taken you away from me." - Mulder talking to Scully on his tape recorder.
4. "I may not have the X-Files, Scully, but I still have my work. I still have you." - Mulder after Scully tells him he still has nothing, no evidence.
Associated Story: Memories of Nothing

Summary: A body is found in the sewer, suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. Skinner assigns Mulder, with Scully's help, to go in search of the killer. What they find is a mutant flukeman that has the capability to reproduce asexually and thirsts for blood.
Rating:
To be able to shoot a sunflower seed into a styrofoam cup from a distance with your finger is a real skill. *HATE* the haircut!!! Too short and spiky. Big admission of caring from Mulder, when he tells Scullly that They don't want them working together and that's the only reason he had for staying. Being with her was the only reason for staying. *Sigh* I'm getting mushy, time to move on. Let me get this clear right now - I could never be a pathologist. I'm not very squeamish, but some things are downright gross. The doctor who inspects the sanitation worker sure doesn't try very hard to help her patient or figure out what's wrong with him. Must be an HMO. X first appears in this episode. Of course why he would bother with helping them solve *this* case, I have no clue. Kind of an insult, implying that they couldn't solve it on their own. Love the interaction as they discuss the worm, Scully even laughing. She was so much happier in the first few seasons. I'm a little unhappy with Mulder for his mistrust of Scully, asking her not to talk to people as though she would betray his confidence. The puking up a fluke in the shower is really disgusting. Did you know that Darin Morgan plays the flukeman?
Favorite Quotes:
1. "Watch yourself."
"Yeah, I wouldn't want to step in anything." - Cop and Mulder as they wade through the sewer.
2. "Is this seat taken?"
"No. But let me warn you, I'm experiencing violent impulses."
"Well I'm armed, I think I'll take my chances." - Scully and Mulder.
3.You're saying the murder weapon was a Top Sirloin?" - Mulder to Scully after she mentions all the diseases a rare steak can cause.
4. "I would consider it more than a professional loss if you decided to leave." - Scully to Mulder regarding his decision to quit the FBI.

Summary: A sudden rise in the crime rate in Franklin, Pennsylvania is due to the unexplainable killings of random victims. Mulder believes that the deaths have something to do with chemical spraying and subliminal messages by the government in an effort to control the populace.
Rating:
Looks like the FBI got smart and assigned Mulder back to Violent Crimes. Mulder is obsessed with playing right field. He played softball, I wonder if he only played right field? I don't care how powerful the government is, there is no possible way they could control all those machines at exactly the right time and know what everyone's phobia is. As far as I know, I don't have any big phobias, just itty bitty ones that most people have like acraphobia and arachnaphobia (heights and spiders). Mulder once again displays his clumsiness in tripping up the stairs and reinjuring himself on the way up the tower. Of course, if he didn't, then Ed would go berserk and... So it was supposed to happen.
Favorite Quotes:
1. "So Mulder, where's your little partner?"
"She wouldn't come. She's afraid of her love for you."
"She's tasty."
"You know, Frohike, It's men like you who give perversion a bad name." - Frohike and Mulder.

Summary: When Mulder requests to investigate an unexplained death, he is assigned a new partner. He and his partner, Agent Krycek, uncover a military experiment that irradicated the need for sleep in some soldiers. But the experiment went wrong and now one of the soldiers is able to project hallucinations that kill.
Rating:
Looks like Mulder's back on wire taps. Before I knew who he was, I felt sorry for Krycek when Mulder ditched him. I bet the Rat shot Preacher on purpose. I never really cared much for X, he was too snooty, not really nice to Mulder. I wish that Mulder really had been shot and hadn't just imagined it. Too bad Krycek is a badguy, he's awfully cute. I don't really have that much to say about this episode, so I'll stop now.
Favorite Quotes:
1. "I'm surprised I put up with you for so long." - Mulder to Scully regarding her jealousy of Krycek as his new partner.

Summary: Mulder is called in as a hostage negotiater because the hostage taker thinks he was abducted by aliens and must now take someone with him so the aliens won't get him.

Summary: A volcano exploration and study team loses contact with the outside and the robotic volcano explorer called Firewalker records the dead body of one of the team members as well as a shadow moving in the hot depths. Mulder and Scully discover most of the team hidden at their base, claiming that the team leader has gone crazy and is killing them all. Mulder suspects a silicon-based lifeform and when one of the team members die with a growth protruding from his neck, Scully believes that fungus spores are causing dementia and death.
Rating:
Mulder is so concerned over Scully’s going back into the field, it’s so sweet. And when, at the end, when he sees her handcuffed through the door and he caresses her face in relief... *sigh* Those spore things are really disgusting, like ‘Aliens’ except from the throat. At least there wasn’t gushing blood. Not that I mind blood - as long as it’s coming from Mulder. I always get the actor who plays Trepkos mixed up with the guy who plays the badguy in ‘Ghost’. Scully’s hair looks nice this length. Makes her look softer and more innocent yet older and more capable than when it’s longer.
Favorite Quotes: None I’m afraid.

Summary: A teenager disappears and later reappears in the woods disoriented, covered in scratches and bruises, and with the words ‘He Is One’ written on his back in marker. The town is a big cattle place but has a religious sect called the Red Museum that are strict vegetarians and follow a fanatical leader. The leader is suspected in the kidnappings but it may be something more heinous and less earthly. font>
Rating:
Way too convoluted for me. There’s the voyeuristic freak, the doctor experimenting with purity control, the Red Museum cult, and the cattle hormones. It doesn’t make much sense to me, it’s like they took a bunch of story lines and squished them together as though they didn’t have enough episodes to explore each one. Red turbans are a bad fashion statement. BBQ sounds good. Mmmm.... meat. The first teenager to disappear - his mom is the same lady who plays Penny Northern. Maybe it’s her twin sister? Married so she has a different last name? It’a always fun to link characters and make it plausible.Favorite Quotes:
1. “Thanks.” - Scully to Mulder after he wipes barbeque sauce from her lip. Not the quote really but the action it stems from is why it’s my fave.

Summary: A nursing home attendant claims to have been raped by the ghostly apparition of one of the patients. Several of the patients exhibit marked improvement in their conditions and it cannot be explained by conventional means. One of the attendant’s mysterious mushrooms may hold the key.
Rating:
Nurse Michelle Charters is Janet Frasier from Stargate: SG-1! It’s really odd seeing her like that... Nursing homes are depressing, especially because most TV shows portray the attendants there as mean and uncaring. Why work there is you don’t like hepling the elderly? Makes me paranoid. Leo was a good artist, but too German Expressionist for me. I’m a bit disappointed in Mulder’s reaction to Michelle’s claims of rape. He discounts her claims almost immediately and it is Scully that searches for another answer. What happened to the considerate and compassionate Mulder we know and love? Poor Gung was just trying to help but then all the elderly revert back to their Alzheimer afflicted selves. Kind of a ‘Flowers for Algernon’ thing going on. Best thing I have to say is that Muder almost drowned.
Favorite Quotes:
1.”What do you think Mulder?”
“About the guy’s plumbing?” - Scully and Mulder after interviewing Hal Arden.

Summary: Detective B.J. Morrow in Aubrey unearths athe skeleton of an FBI agent who disappeared in 1942. Her dreams are a link to the similar killings from 1942 and several that are occurring in the present. The victims all have the word ‘SISTER’ carved on their chest and the original killer is their only suspect. However, B.J. is pregnant by a married co-worker, the Sheriff, and her pregnancy is causing difficulties. Could her almost psychic premonitions be caused by the pregnancy or is something more insidous at work?
Rating:
That Cokely is one ugly man. I’m not surprised Mulder knew about Agent Chaney, what with his background in profiling and all. I feel really bad for B.J., she seems a nice enough woman (except for the fact that she is having an affair with a married man). She’s very polite, always calling Mulder ‘Sir’. And she is seriously concerned about the case, trying to help where she can. I suppose it could be a subconscious need to be caught. Chaney’s skull has a hole in it with cracks radiating from it - can a skull really crack like that? Scully sure is smart, figuring out that B.J. and Tillman were involved and then confronting B.J. about it. I love where she mentions that she’s had feelings about people she’s worked with - could there be a particular person at this very moment? Hmm.... My main question is - what does B.J. stand for? Ooooh, and Mulder talks about him having nightmares... yay! I think I need therapy.
Favorite Quotes:
1. “Unless there was a neon sign saying ‘dig here’.” - Mulder trying to explain why B.J. would dig in the middle of the field.
2. “I’ve always been intrigued by women named B.J.” - Mulder to Scully in response as to why they’re going to Aubrey.
3. “Dreams are answers to questions we haven’t yet learned how to ask.” - This famous line by Mulder needs no explanation. Love that it was referred to again in Paper Hearts, nice continuity.
4. “I seem to recall you having some pretty extreme hunches.”
“I never have.” - Scully and Mulder in regards to B.J.’s insights.

Summary: A death fetishist resorts to killing to gain the dead things he collect. Mulder and Scully must find him before he kills again and before Scully becomes his next victim.
Rating:
Okay, creepy. What I find really amusing is that the actor who plays Donnie is now a movie actor who has had a lot of roles lately, especially in action. He was in Con Air as Billy Bedlam and I found that ironic. I don’t know about you, but I would have been suspicious of him from the start, I mean the man was creepy! He talked oddly and always had this look on his face that wasn’t quite sane. I love the beginning where Scully is all shocked and Mulder acts like it’s old hat to him. Because it is. It’s a sidelook into his past as a profiler, though not an obvious one. He is right the entire time about the fetishist escalating and about what kind of guy he is. There is nothing supernatural about this episode at all, and that is what makes it seem like a real glimpse into Mulder as a Profiler. yes, Scully saw Donnie as a gargoylish thing, but that could have easily been stress. Now, I don’t mean to lessen what Donnie did to those women, but I don’t thing he was pure evil. Yes, what he did was wrong, sick, and evil, but there are much worse people in this world. Read some of John Douglas’ books and you’ll become very aware of that fact. Especially child killers. Try and tell me that some guy who kills kids (Like John Lee Roche) is less evil than Donnie Phaster.
Favorite Quotes: None as of this moment, I have to watch it again.

Summary: Rumors of witchcraft and a seeminly ritual death draw our intrepid agents to Milford Haven. They find a school where the PTA is involved in a Satanic cult, the kids are brainwashed and perhaps unwilling participants in satanic rituals, and the Devil is on the loose in the form of a substitute teacher.
Rating:
Mrs. Paddock is great as the Devil. Or so I assume that’s what she’s supposed to be. Such an unlikely form and yet so appropriate. Those big black eyes are eerie. Now, when she puts away the papers, she lays them on top of a heart and eyes. When she handed the papers back, wouldn’t the students notice the bloodstains? Would they just write it off as rat blood or whatever they dissected most recently? In this episode, Scully goes on and on about how the FBI did studies that proved that cults weren’t real and couldn’t be operating because the death toll would be impossible to miss. Later on in the episode Our Town, Scully says that there may be a cult at work. Yes, she’s out little hypocrite. My favorite part is when Mulder and Scully are tied up in the shower and Mulder shields Scully with his body when the PTA members are killed - he’s so chivalrous. I also find the very end highly amusing, where Paddock has left a note on the chalkboard about it being nice working with them. That can be taken so many ways.
Favorite Quotes: None yet, I have to watch it again.

All fake gorillas look... fake. They never look real, except in Mighty Joe Young (the new one with Bill Paxton and Charlize Theron). Plus, Sophie looks surprisingly like a male gorilla - no teats, and she has the high bone on her head that only males have - don’t these people know the difference? I prefer African elephants to Asian elephants. Did you know Ganesha is the name of an Indian Goddess that is an anthropomorphic elephant? Nice tie in. If the Fairfield zoo is near a UFO hotspot, wouldn’t Mulder know that? Isn’t he supposedly the expert on that sort of thing? In the beginning, the invisible Ganesha runs into a roadworker, who flies through the air and hit the ground hard. His co-workers run over and turn him over. Now, I’m no doctor but I know that you should *never* move someone who might have a back or neck injury because you could do more damage. The older of the latino janitors in the beginning looks awfully familiar - he’s a Consortium henchman in ‘Apocrypha’. Must be in town because he knows the aliens are about. Scully *stands* inside a dissected elephant - gross! Fairfield is in Idaho, and one of the construction workers at the site where the tiger is returned is teasing his co-worker about betting on the Chargers. San Diego Chargers? Heck, even we San Diegans know better than to bet on them. The Chargers were also mentioned in the episode ‘Ice’, and it makes me wonder if one of the writers is a fan. I hate Ed Meecham, he killed a tiger. Why does the man work at a zoo if he hates animals? He should join the orderlies in ‘Excelsius Dei’ and start a union. It bothers me that Sophie attacks Mulder at the end. Gorillas are one of the most gentle species on the planet. Sure, they put on a great display, but it’s just that - a display. I’m sorry, animals are my hobby. I’m going to get off my high horse now. Side note: Mulder gets hurt and bloodied, yay!

Summary: A group of sailors are found adrift, having aged impossibly fast. Mulder and Scully go in search of their ship, only to get stranded aboard the vessel and begin to age. Heavy water or a time wrinkle may be responsible, but the only other person on board with them has found a way to slow the process and he is unwilling to share.
Rating:
I love the fact that Mulder gets seasick, it makes him more human. No, it has nothing to do with my penchant for Muldertorture. Really. I swear. Mulder in a black turtleneck. Yum. Mulder’s so talented, he knows a lot about radios. He’s fixed (or pronounced unfixable) a lot of radios. Trondheim is older than Mulder and Scully yet when they age, he looks younger. Why? Yes, Mulder is aging faster than both of them, but Scully still looks older than Trondheim by far. Mulder is chivalrous again, insisting Scully drink the rest of the liquid available. Did you notice that the first word out of Scully’s mouth where she woke up in the hospital was “Mulder!”. Then she looks over at him and he looks better than she does. Why? Some people age well - none of the people in this episode are included in that group.
Favorite Quotes:
1. “You’re lucky you inherited your father’s legs.” - Mulder to Scully regarding her sea legs. 2. “Sllleeup.” - Mulder licking his lips after Scully tells him the contents of the last drink on board.

Summary: Mylder and Scully go in search of the infamous Fiji Mermaid of Barnum and Bailey renown, for the creature may be responsible for the deaths of several circus folk.
Rating:
Why do Mulder and Scully go to the Alligator Man’s funeral? Is that standard FBI procedure? Mulder goes jogging, he’s so athletic. What’s really interesting is that the Conundrum guy is real, he’s been in other shows and really has a puzzle tattooed all over him. Well, when our duo is digging up the sheriff’s potato Mulder brings up a good arguement that they were being discriminatory about the sheriff’s being a dog-faced boy. They look at each other in silence then bend down at the same time and continue to dig. Then, when Scully tries to BS the reason they were doing so, Mulder cuts her off and tells the sheriff exactly why they were doing what they were doing. This episode is full of great moments - Mulder falling on the bed of nails, the sheriff catching Dr. Blockhead by the hooks he ut in himself, Scully eating a bug, Mulder and the manager’s many tiffs, it goes on and on. What’s great is that Scully comes up with the weird theory all on her own. Then, when the sheriff starts deriding Scully for her theory and Mulder syas “now you know how I feel,” as he passes is priceless. When they’re in the Tabernacle of Terror and Mulder comes sliding out a hole, saying “I thought I heard a shot fired,” as though he intentionally ended up there was great.
Favorite Quotes:
1. “I can’t wait for the wake.” - Mulder in response to the odd ending to the Alligator Man’s funeral.
2. “Do you recall what Barnum said about suckers?” - Scully to the sheriff and then eyeing Mulder.
3. The entire tirade of the hotel manager to Mulder in regards to his assumption that he worked in the circus and the manager’s response that they looked like FBI agents.
3. “You would be surprised as to how many women find my size intriguingly alluring.”
